The MLS is investing huge quantities of money hiring almost retired soccer's superstars such as Beckham, Henry or Rafa Marquez to play inn the Major League. The players earn the same or even more money that the used to earn when they were active superstars. One example of this situation is the Mexican player Rafa Marquez, his annual paycheck is almost 4.5 M but when he was playing in Barcelona it did not reach the 3.5 M. The question that I am bringing is if this strategy will work to increase soccer awareness in the US or it will fail again as in the past?
What do you think about it? This strategy really helps the MLS or it is only marketing?
